Even election issues were not spared on April Fools’ Day as social media users feasted on a satirical post that said the Marcoses had finally settled their P203-billion estate tax liability via GCash, the popular mobile wallet app.

The satirical post by John Carl Sebastian on the “House of Representa-thieves: Butasang Pambansa” Facebook public group has been shared more than 14,000 times.

While the user himself labeled his post as “#satire,” others who copied it did not; some explanation on how GCash works is necessary as not all Filipinos use GCash, much less pay taxes through the app.
