In a 39-second TikTok video posted by user “ghlyn_c”, outgoing VP Leni Robredo was shown being unable to answer questions regarding the bills that she herself authored. This made her look “lutang” or not in a proper state of mind, a popular disparaging for her by her opponents.
In the video, Robredo says “Dalawa sa mga fi-nile kong batas ay ‘yung…‘Yung pinaka-una kong finile ay, uhm, nakalimutan ko ‘yung title.”
This was later on followed by a clip of Senator-elect Raffy Tulfo laughing and spitting out water. The part where she says she forgot the title was then repeated for comedic effect.
The Press conference being referred to in the TikTok video was one that VP Leni attended on October 29, 2021, at the Sorsogon Provincial Gym. She was answering a question regarding her advantage against other presidential candidates and she stated her accomplishments in the OVP as well as proposals in Congress to curb corruption in the Government.
The full statement reads:
“Noong nasa Congress ako, ano bang klaseng mga batas ‘yung aking finile? Dalawa sa mga finile kong batas ay…‘Yung pinaka-una kong finile ay, uhm, nakalimutan ko ‘yung title…‘Yung pinaka-una kong finile ay uhm, ‘yung transparency, ‘yung transparency sa lahat ng mga transaksyon ng pamahalaan. ‘Yung pangalawa, isa ako sa mga authors ng freedom of information law, at ‘yung dalawang ‘yun ay parehong transparency measures na nagsisiguro na magiging mahirap ‘yung korapsyon.”
This shows that VP Leni Robredo was aware and knowledgeable of the legislation she authored, and she simply forgot the full title of the bill.
