CLAIM: Comments by leaders of Russia, China, and North Korea on former president Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest.

RATING: FALSE

Another round of fabricated quotes has circulated on social media, this time misrepresenting Russian president Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and Chinese president Xi Jinping.

In one quote card on Facebook, Putin supposedly said that he “stands with [Duterte]” and that he “condemns the International Criminal Court’s unlawful interference to (sic) Philippine sovereignty.”

Another fabricated card showed China’s Xi supposedly addressing the narrative that he had abandoned Duterte and saying that “China respects the ICC.”

On TikTok, Kim Jong-un appeared to be saying that his government was “open to helping” Duterte’s daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, and that the former president is “a good president for the Filipino people.”

As of the time of posting, no official statements have been published by these leaders regarding former president Duterte’s arrest.
