FALSE

Online posts continue to amplify an already debunked claim that Vice President Leni Robredo met with senior Facebook officials to supposedly discuss plans to take down accounts supporting presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

A YouTube video, which already has over 133,000 views as of writing, attributed the claim to an earlier allegation made by senatorial candidate Larry Gadon.

The 22-minute video heavily relied on reports about Gadon’s statement, as well as a screenshot of a text message from an unknown source containing supposed details of the meeting.

Facebook posts containing the same screenshot have already been flagged as false by independent fact-checkers.

Meta Platforms, owner of Facebook, earlier issued a statement denying Gadon’s claim.

“No one from Meta has recently met with the vice president or her team, or made any agreement to remove political content from our platforms. We do not arbitrarily censor peaceful political speech on Facebook, and we will only remove content if they violate our Community Standards,” a Meta spokesperson said.
